A pair of high heels clicked on the tile floor. Conversations were hushed, footsteps quieted. The hallway grew instantly silent as a tall figure appeared. Friends nervously stayed huddled together, the teachers watched with wary eyes. The Head Mistress.
The leader of the school, she was feared by all. Dressed in heels, and a dress suit with her hair pulled back into a tight a bun, and her eyes ever watchful, she was quite a sight to look at. A ruler was always in her hand, the old fashioned way, but a way that worked nonetheless. Though she rarely hit students with it, it was a bit intimidating when it was slapped right by your ear.
Her eyes were like a hawk's, always watching her school. She continued down the hall, students standing fearfully to the side.

Seeing the Head Mistress, I flinched. My boots squeaked against the floor. A bead of sweat slipped down my face. Had she seen me spray paint $#!+ in the boys locker room? My face turned ashen. Mud pie eyes dropping to the floor, I put my hands behind my back. I stepped out from behind the column.
"Hello, Head Mistress."
I said, stepping up to her a yard or two.
"How are you today?"
I said this as nonchalantly as possible. Would she catch on to me?

Drew walked down the hallway going to English. She saw the Head Mistress. Drew stopped but then walked forward a little. Tge Head Mistress scared a lot of people but not Drew. As long as you didn't make her angry you would be fine. There was a guy by her that looked slightly frightened. What had he done to make him look so afraid? It wasn't Drews bisness so she wouldn't bother asking.

Her eyes narrowed. Kids never asked how she was. "Forget it with the manners. Nothing happens in this school that I don't know about Nick. You're never one to ask how I am. And there can be only one reason for it. Trust me, if you've done something, I'll find out." Her eyes were like a hawk's as she stared at him before turning away to stare at Drew for a moment. Finally, she continued down the hall.

Drew watched as the Head Mistress talked. So that was his name. As the Head Mistress past Drew smiled a little "Hi" she said not loudly but politely. Drew was very polite most people even if they could be a little mean sometimes.

Lily watched the whole scene, rolling her eyes. The boy looked nervous, probably meant he had done something. Hopefully the Head Mistress wouldn't find out. She walked over to him and Drew. "Don't let her intimidate you. She's thinks she's scary, but she's not. Though I wouldn't want to get in her way."

Drew nodded "Yup she acts scary but she's not really" she said. "I should know I've lived her since I was about eleven" Drew said. "But ya don't get in her way by doing things you'll regret" she said "But if you know a good way to cover you're tracks, that's different" Drew said mostly seriouse but tgere was a slight joke there to.

I winked at the girls. "Already covered. I'm gonna do a little covering of my tracks today. Gotta repaint some areas, fix up a roof."
I ran my hand through my black hair. My brown eyes watched them both; I watched their body language. I leaned against the wall nearest to me, and put my hands deep into my pockets. My jeans slid dangerously low on my hips.
"How `bout you?" I turned to the other girl. "How long have you been here?"

Drew nodded "That will work" she said "Tge Head Misstress has eyes like a hawk, and sometimes shows up when you least expect her to" Drew said. Then looked at Lily as the boy asked how long Lily had been there. Drew didn't even know, and Lily was one of her best friends. Well only friends to be corect.

I nodded, agreeing with my assessment of the time I've been at the school. I scratched at my chin.
"Yep, sound's about right."
I eyes darted between them. Running my hand over my mouth, I hid a smile.

Drew nodded "Ok cool" she said wondering why they had never met after five years. It was odd but they had probably just never crossed paths. It was a big school and many places to go.

"2 years? Strange how I've never met you. Though it's a big school. Easy to not run into people." Lily glanced around, noticing the looks they were beginning to get from teachers. "Do you guys want to go out to the courtyard, or something? Because if the Head Mistress walks by, and we're still standing here..."
